The Voice UK nominated for a BAFTA TV Award

Talpa’s worldwide phenomenon The Voice has been nominated for the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Awards, also known as the BAFTA TV Awards, in the category Best Entertainment Programme. The BAFTA TV Awards are the British equivalent to the Emmy Awards. This could be another big recognition for the hit format that already received numerous awards, including 4 Emmy's and 4 Producers Guild Awards. The winner will be announced May 13th at the annual awards show.

The Voice also has a new territory to add to its extensive list of local productions; the show has reached the land of Everest. In Nepal, broadcaster ANC has licensed the format and it is slated to air this July on Kantipur Television.

Apart from being one of the top entertainment shows in the world, The Voice also continues to generate some promising music artists; in the UK recent winner Ruti scored a multitude of successes with her song ‘Dreams’. Not only debuted it at #14 in the official chart, it also became #1 on iTunes, on UK midweeks and on the Spotify UK Viral Top 50 chart. Also in the UK, runner-up Donel Mangena has been invited to perform at the Queen’s Birthday Party!

The Voice, first on air in 2010 in the Netherlands, is the purest vocal talent competition ever in which looks don’t play a role. It’s all about the voice!
