Talpa’s solid and long-term collaboration with Spain and Portugal has further strengthened with the recent commissions of 10 more formats in the Iberian region.
Spain commissioned a whopping seven formats, all through the media group Atresmedia. These include the commission of the worldwide best-selling full Voice franchise on its new home channel in Spain. After a successful season in 2019, La Voz is set to return in 2020. A new version of La Voz Kids and the brand-new arrival of La Voz Senior are expected to air later this year, all produced by Boomerang. In addition, Atresmedia signed four brand new commissions: the interactive game show 5 Gold Rings; the senior citizen based smash hit Around the World with 80-Year-Olds; the reality show about neighborly quarrels; Trouble with the Neighbors and our newest format, Home Alone. This is a groundbreaking social experiment involving a group of kids at home… and on their own. Home Alone is part of the 2019 MIPTV line-up, and is set to launch this August on SBS6 in the Netherlands as a part of the Fastest Way to the Screen initiative, John de Mol’s Talpa Network initiative. With this initiative they give format creators from around the world access to screen in the Netherlands, in return for IP. Talpa Global takes care of the global rollout. Home Alone is created by Med&Co and WeMake.
Portugal has commissioned three formats, all to be produced by Shine Iberia. Broadcaster SIC has a brand-new commission with The Wishing Tree, our feel-good format in which children make special wishes to help other people. Broadcaster RTP has recommissioned The Voice and is bringing back The Voice Kids after a long pause.
With these commissions, Talpa’s presence in Iberia is growing stronger than ever before.
