Spanish boomerang tv group partners with talpa media
Media entrepreneur John de Mol's company Talpa and Spanish Boomerang TV Group today announced the start of a 50-50 owned joint venture aimed at the Spanish market. The new joint venture has the exclusive right to sell, adapt and produce all Talpa formats in the well known TV genres of reality, game show and scripted.
The Boomerang TV Group is one of the biggest independent producers in Spain. Next to TV production, Boomerang is well known for its movie and event productions. The company was founded in 1998 and has since produced over 11,000 hours of television content. Boomerang signed off over 120 different formats in genres like talk shows, games, variety and fiction series.
Talpa's John de Mol is pleased with the deal: "Spain is a very interesting market for television and Boomerang is one of the most creative producers in this country. This company is perfect for the kind of programming Talpa develops and will produce our formats very well. After finding Shine as a partner in France, in December last year, and Warner Horizon in the US, last month, this is the third important joint venture deal for Talpa. When it comes to our growth strategy, Talpa is fast moving and very well on track."
José Abril, Boomerang's General Manager and shareholder of the company, has added: "We are really happy with this agreement because it means we are partners of one of the most creative independent production and distribution companies worldwide. We take a big step forward in realizing our strategy to consolidate Boomerang TV as a reference in the Spanish television market."
