Talpa media enters into partnership with shine australia
FIVE JOINT VENTURES IN THREE MONTHS TIME
Media entrepreneur John de Mol's company Talpa and the Australian branch of Shine Group today announced the start of a 50-50 owned joint venture. The project is aimed at the TV markets in Australia and New Zealand and holds the exclusive rights to sell, adapt and produce all Talpa formats in the well known TV genres of reality, game show and scripted.
The new outfit will be headed by Mark and Carl Fennessy, joint CEO's of Shine Australia. The Fennessy brothers are known for establishing Fremantle Media Australia (FMA) as one of the most successful production companies in the southern hemisphere. Before that time they owned the independent production boutique Crackerjack which was acquired by Fremantle.
During their time at FMA Mark and Carl Fennessy produced many successful formats across several genres including: Australian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, The Farmer Wants A Wife, Project Runway Australia and Australia's Got Talent. Recently they have worked with Shine Group companies on the Australian version of The Biggest Loser and the record-breaking series MasterChef Australia.
Mark and Carl left FMA at the end of 2009 to launch Shine Australia last month in Melbourne.
John de Mol is very pleased with the new partnership. He says: "Talpa is an attractive opportunity for our partners due to our steady flow of creative new development projects. We are very pleased to team up with Mark and Carl Fennessy as they are by far the best producers in the Australian and New Zealand Region."
Shine Australia is committed to ongoing international expansion while delivering top quality content.
