Today Talpa Distribution, part of John de Mol's media company Talpa Media Holding, announced a new commission by TV SBT Canal 4 in Brazil for Dating in the Dark. TV SBT has picked up a series of 13 episodes of the reality dating show.
Dating in the Dark has so far been sold in 15 countries worldwide including the recent license deal with Virgin Television in the UK. Brazil will be the first production in Latin America for this title. The news follows the great launch on ABC in the USA last Monday where the show attracted 6.3 million viewers and helped ABC win the Monday night over its competing stations.
Maarten Meijs, Director of Sales at Talpa Distribution says: "It is internationally recognized that, unlike other dating shows, Dating in the Dark has identifiable real life elements which was key for the buyers of the show. It's a big hit for us and the success in the USA will help the format travel to more continents".
Dating in the Dark answers the age-old question 'Is Love Blind?'. Can you fall in love with someone who you've spoken to, smelt, felt, maybe even tasted... But who you have never seen? And if so, what happens when you finally do? The show is a voyage for people on the look for true love.
