Nordisk partners with talpa in denmark, norway, finland and sweden
A new 50/50 owned joint venture of Nordisk Film TV and Talpa Media oversees the production of all Talpa formats in the well known TV genres of reality, game show and scripted by Nordisk for broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden. This was announced today by Nordisk CEO Jacob Houlind and Pim Schmitz, CEO of Talpa Media.
Nordisk Film TV is one of Northern Europe's largest independent television production companies. Headed by Jacob Houlind and CCO Peter Hansen it produces about 1,500 hours of television content a year, creating and producing hit programming within the genres of entertainment, serial drama, factual and reality. International formats produced by Nordisk include ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire', ‘Wipeout', ‘Biggest Looser' and ‘Farmer wants a Wife'. Own devised shows created by Nordisk include hits like '71 degrees North', ‘My Big Fat Parents' and ‘2900 Happiness'.
In October 2009 Nordisk Film TV was acquired by fast growing international media company Banijay Entertainment also active in France, Spain, Germany, Russia and the US.
"This is a clear deal that benefits all parties involved", says Jacob Houlind. "Nordisk is at home in this fragmented multi-language Nordic market and the Talpa catalogue is highly attractive thanks to its constant flow of fresh proven hits. Besides that, the Talpa formats complement our own successes very well."
Talpa's Pim Schmitz adds: "A few weeks ago we established a similar joint venture with Shine in Australia and New Zealand, today we do business with key player Nordisk at exactly the other end of the world. In the last three months we found appealing local partners in Portugal, Spain, France and the US. My conclusion thusfar is simple: good product travels at very high speed."
Early 2010, some appealing formats in Talpa's catalogue are: ‘The Golden Cage', ‘Dating in the Dark', ‘Viper's Nest', ‘Pretty Smart', ‘Guesstimation', ‘I Love My Country'. ‘Divided' and ‘Know Your Nation'. (Descriptions on: http://www.talpa.tv/formats/all)
